What is the hand treatment?

Hands show age and wear faster than the face and get less care: constant washing, sanitizer, sun and no SPF. The hand treatment at NewskinLA (on the old menu, Luxury Tired Hands) is a short, focused repair: exfoliation to remove dry, rough skin, a massage that works from the fingertips to the wrists, and a warm shea butter mask that soaks in while your facial finishes.

It's booked as an add-on to any facial or on its own for 20 minutes. It's also the one treatment clients buy as a gift for someone who "doesn't do facials."

Who the hand treatment is for

  • Dry, rough or cracked hands
  • Hands that look older than the face
  • Nurses, cooks, anyone who washes their hands all day
  • Gardeners, lifters and tradespeople
  • Anyone who wants a relaxing add-on to a facial

‍

Not recommended if

  • Open cuts, infection or a rash on the hands
  • Nut or shea allergy (tell Anna; a different mask is used)

What to expect during the hand treatment in Burbank

  1. Cleanse. Hands cleansed and warmed.
  2. Exfoliate. A gentle scrub or enzyme removes rough, dry skin.
  3. Massage. Fingers, palms and wrists; the part everyone remembers.
  4. Mask. Warm shea butter mask, wrapped, for 10 minutes.
  5. Finish. Rich cream and SPF; hands need sunscreen too.

Hand treatment FAQ

Can I add it to a facial?
Yes. It's designed to run while your mask is on, so it adds no time to a facial appointment.
How long does it take on its own?
About 20 minutes.
Is it good as a gift?
It's the most-gifted treatment on the menu. Gift cards are on the site.
Will it help dark spots on my hands?
The exfoliation helps texture and tone a little. For sun spots, ask Anna about a brightening add-on.
I'm allergic to nuts. Is shea a problem?
Shea is a tree nut butter; tell Anna and she'll use an alternative mask.
How often should I do it?
Every 4 to 6 weeks, or monthly in winter.
