How sun damage is treated at NewskinLA

Sun damage shows up as spots and blotchy tone, rough or leathery texture, fine lines, and skin that looks older than it should. It's cumulative, and in Los Angeles it's the most common thing Anna sees on skin over 30. The good news is that the surface signs respond well to treatment; the non-negotiable is daily SPF afterward, or it returns.

The plan resurfaces and repairs. Retinol or TCA peels lift the damaged layers and stimulate collagen. Brightening facials and lightening peels work on tone. Salmon DNA and exosome facials repair and hydrate between resurfacing. Anna stages this over a series so the skin is never over-treated, and darker skin tones get a patch test and prep first.

Anything that looks like more than sun damage, a spot that's changed, bled or grown, gets sent to a dermatologist first. Anna checks for that at the consultation.

Signs you're in the right place

  • Brown spots on the cheeks, forehead, chest or hands
  • Blotchy, uneven tone
  • Rough or leathery texture
  • Fine lines that deepened after summers outside
  • Skin that tans in patches

Sun damage treatment FAQ

Can sun spots be removed?
Most surface sun spots fade with a series of peels and brightening treatments. Deeper or older spots improve but may need more sessions. Anna assesses which is which.
Which peel is best for sun damage?
TCA for texture, lines and stubborn spots. Retinol if you want minimal downtime or have deeper skin tone.
How many sessions?
A series of 3, 4 to 6 weeks apart, then maintenance. Tone improves first, texture after.
Will it come back?
Not if you wear SPF every day. Without it, yes. That's the one rule.
Do you treat the chest and hands?
Yes. Chest and hands show sun damage as much as the face and are treated the same way, as body treatments.
Should I see a dermatologist first?
If any spot has changed shape, color or size, yes. Anna checks at the consultation and will refer you if something looks off.
